South America: Earthquake tremors in Peru, measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale

A 7.5-magnitude earthquake was felt within the northern area of Peru on Sunday. It’s reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was situated at a distance of 40 km from town of Baranka. In keeping with the US Geological Survey (USGS), the tremors have been felt so far as the Peruvian capital, Lima. Nevertheless, up to now there have been no stories of any casualties or main injury.

In keeping with the report, the epicenter of the earthquake was about 100 km beneath the bottom, because of which the incidence of floor shaking was restricted. The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Middle mentioned in a tweet that the world the place the quake occurred is an Amazon rainforest, with little habitation. The US Tsunami Warning System mentioned that no tsunami alert has been acquired up to now after the quake.
