Motion was taken in Parliament on 11 January. After this motion was to be taken on 12 December, however President Rajapaksa suspended Parliament.

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has immediately suspended Parliament proceedings for per week. He left for Singapore. His go to was not pre-planned and nobody knew about it. His departure to Singapore by suspending the session of such Parliament for per week is elevating many questions. President Rajapaksa left for Singapore hours after parliament suspended the session. Presidential officers say he has gone on a non-public go to, with some believing that Rajapaksa might have left for Singapore for medical causes.
